Praying for decency

The Anchoress is a beautiful woman and I've never laid eyes on her. A christian blogger that leans right, the Anchoress nevertheless sees the need for decent, reflective conversation intent on gaining understanding between parties and wings -- not just hurling vile invective in blog posts and comments.

From the Anchoress:
I pray that simple civil discourse can somehow enter into the arena of politics, that invective will lose its charms for some, and frenzied, overwrought political theatrics - whether they involve Randall Terry hanging around the Schindler family in Florida or the agenda-movers surrounding Mrs. Sheehan, in Texas - can be shut down like the bad farces they are.

I'm doing my part, Anchoress. You can be left wing, or you can be right wing, but the real meat is in the breast.

You immediately call me bonehead and cast my intelligence into doubt without knowing a thing about me and then suggest that you're not involved in "hurling vile invective in blog posts and comments?" How laughable!

Drew, thanks for reading. I read your blog often because I find things there worth reading, but when you're being boneheaded, I'm going to say you're being boneheaded. Suggesting that we not teach evolution in schools is boneheaded.

However, your point is taken. I will try to be more judicious in my critcism and praise.

Also Drew, I'd like to point out that when you suggested that religion had nothing to do with "justice for the poor" that you made me angry and offended me as a Catholic. That might have clouded my judgement in how I regarded the effects of my criticism on your feelings.

You misunderstood me on that. The quote from the Senator in question made no sense and jumped around. Of course people who follow Christ should care enough to take care of others. But lefties claiming moral superiority is simply laughable.
